About Nylon (Polyamide, PA 6 & PA 66)
Nylon offers an excellent balance of strength, toughness, fatigue and wear resistance, and chemical resistance to fuels and oils. Glass reinforcement dramatically raises stiffness and heat capability. Nylon absorbs moisture: about 2.5–3.5% at 50% relative humidity and 8–10% when saturated. Parts grow and stiffness falls by more than half as they condition, while toughness rises. Design and test in the conditioned state. Heat-stabilized and specialty grades address demanding environments.
