PPA supplier: high-heat nylon, glass-filled and FR grades
Polyphthalamide keeps its stiffness and dimensions hotter and wetter than PA66, and stands up to fuels, coolants and oils.

About PPA
PPA is a semi-aromatic, high-temperature nylon. Compared with PA66 it melts higher, absorbs less moisture, holds strength and stiffness at elevated temperature, and resists automotive fluids better. Glass-filled grades are a common metal replacement under the hood and in electrical connectors that see reflow soldering. It still needs drying before molding, and the mold temperature depends on the PPA type: some need 135–160°C, others run at about 70–120°C.
Common applications
- Coolant and fuel-line connectors
- Thermostat housings and charge-air components
- Surface-mount electrical connectors
- High-voltage and e-mobility connectors
- LED reflectors and lighting components
- Structural metal replacement in pumps and power tools
Typical properties
| Impact strength | Good |
|---|---|
| Heat (HDT) | ~260–295°C glass-filled (at 1.8 MPa) |
| Moisture uptake | Lower than PA66 |
| Clarity | Opaque |
| Chemical resistance | Very good |
| Relative cost | High |
How PPA compares
| PPA | Nylon 66, glass-filled | PPS | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Continuous use temperature | ~130–160°C | ~110–130°C | ~200–220°C |
| Chemical resistance | Very good | Good; absorbs moisture | Outstanding |
| Strength and stiffness | High; tougher than PPS | High when dry; drops when wet | High with glass; brittle unfilled |
| Processing | Injection; dry first, hot mold | Injection; dry first | Injection; needs a hot mold |
| Relative cost | High | Moderate | High |
Property ranges are general guidance and vary by grade and supplier; a polymer chemist confirms the exact spec against the data sheet and certificate of analysis for your application.
Tell us the PPA grade you run now
A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
What to send for an accurate quote
- The grade name, from any supplier, or a data sheet
- Color (natural, black or a custom match)
- Fill type and percentage, if any
- Melt flow, if you know it
- Quantity for this order and what you use in a year
- Ship-to city and state or province
PPA quoted by glass loading and FR rating
Send the PPA grade, fill level, flame rating and volume; a polymer chemist reviews it and we quote that grade or an equivalent.
