The short answer

Durethan BKV30H2.0 is Envalior’s heat stabilized PA6 with 30% glass fiber (PA6-GF30) for injection molding. It is Envalior’s current name for the grade Lanxess listed as “Durethan BKV 30 H2.0”; plain Durethan BKV30 (once written BKV 30) is a separate grade without the heat stabilizer. Durethan was a Lanxess brand until April 1, 2023, when it moved to Envalior. Envalior is majority owned by Advent International, and Lanxess still holds a minority stake of about 41%. Published values (Envalior property data, dry / conditioned): density 1,360 kg/m³ (ISO 1183), viscosity number 140 cm³/g, tensile modulus 9,600 / 6,000 MPa and stress at break 180 / 110 MPa (ISO 527), HDT 205°C / 401°F at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75), melting point 220°C, and HB at 0.75, 1.5 and 3.0 mm (IEC 60695-11-10). Envalior lists drying at 80°C, a 250–285°C melt and a 50–80°C mold. The sheet lists no melt flow (MVR). These are typical values; confirm them on the current producer data sheet. Grades to ask about include BASF’s Ultramid B3WG6 (heat aging resistant) and Ultramid B3EG6. None is a drop-in replacement.

Also written as: Durethan BKV 30 H2.0, BKV30 H2.0, Durethan BKV30H2.0 901510 (a black color code; Envalior also lists 900116, 900812 and natural on its FMVSS certificates), PA6-GF30. Durethan BKV30 (no H2.0) and BKV30H2.0EF are separate grades. Quote the full grade and color code from your drawing or bag label.

Grades to ask about instead of Durethan BKV30H2.0

These are PA6 with 30% glass fiber from another producer, with the same viscosity number (140 cm³/g), which points to a similar flow class. Envalior publishes no MVR for BKV30H2.0, so flow cannot be compared directly. None is a drop-in replacement: stabilizer packages, color and OEM approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Durethan BKV30H2.0, any change needs that approval and a trial.

Typical uses for Durethan BKV30H2.0

Envalior names BMW, Ford, GM, Mercedes, Renault, Stellantis and VW as automotive OEMs for this grade, lists three OEM specifications, and gives a current distribution ring as an application example. Typical uses for heat stabilized PA6 GF30 include:

  • Automotive parts that must meet one of the OEM specifications listed above
  • Current distribution rings and other electrical parts (Envalior application example)
  • Structural brackets, housings and covers that see heat over time
  • Parts that must keep stiffness at temperature (the sheet lists 2,500 MPa tensile modulus at 200°C)

What to check before you switch

  • Owner check: Durethan is now an Envalior brand (Envalior is majority owned by Advent International, with Lanxess holding about 41%). Older approvals, COAs and UL files may say Lanxess. See who makes Durethan and the brand ownership tracker.
  • Pick the right version. BKV30 (not stabilized), BKV30H2.0 (heat stabilized) and BKV30H2.0EF are separate grades. OEM approvals follow the exact grade and color code.
  • Dry vs conditioned. Envalior gives both columns. Compare dry with dry when you look at BASF or other sheets.
  • No published melt flow. Compare viscosity number (140 cm³/g), then confirm flow in a trial.
  • Dry it right. Envalior asks for a dehumidified or vacuum dryer at 80°C and says hot air ovens are not suitable. See our resin drying guide.
  • PA6 or PA66? PA66 GF30 melts higher and holds more heat. They are not interchangeable without approval. See nylon 6 vs nylon 66 and PA66 GF30 properties.
  • Flame rating. The property sheet gives HB by IEC 60695-11-10 only. Envalior’s grade page links a UL yellow card (file E245249); if your part needs a UL listing, check that card for your color and thickness. See UL 94 flame ratings.
  • Run a trial lot and check fill, surface finish, shrinkage, warp and conditioned dimensions before you switch production. See PA6 GF30 properties for typical ranges.
