Grades to ask about instead of Ultramid A3WG6
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Ultramid A3WG6, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vydyne R530H NAT | Ascend Performance Materials | Not published (no MFR, MVR or viscosity number on the sheet) | 1.37 g/cm³ | Tensile modulus 10,000 / 7400 MPa (1.45 million / 1.07 million psi) dry / conditioned; HDT 1.8 MPa 250 °C (482 °F); Charpy notched 23 °C 11 / 13 kJ/m² | PA66 with 30% glass, heat stabilized and lubricated per Ascend, with similar published stiffness and HDT. Ascend lists its own OEM specs and agency ratings (including FDA 21 CFR 177.1500 and EU 10/2011), which differ from BASF's. Not a drop-in replacement; confirm approvals and run trials. |

Typical uses for Ultramid A3WG6
BASF describes A3WG6 as a glass fibre reinforced, heat ageing resistant injection molding grade for machinery components and housings that need high stiffness and dimensional stability, such as lamp socket housings, cooling fans, insulating profiles for aluminium window frames and various automotive powertrain parts. BASF notes that A3EG6 is its preferred grade for electrically insulating parts.
When PA66 GF30 is worth it over PA6 GF30
A3WG6 is the nylon 66 version. Nylon 66 melts at a higher temperature than nylon 6 (BASF lists 260 °C for A3WG6, against 220 °C for the nylon 6 grade B3WG6), so PA66 GF30 is usually the pick for parts near engines, motors and other sustained heat. If the part runs cooler and surface finish or easier molding matters more, a PA6 GF30 such as Ultramid B3WG6 may do the job. See PA66 GF30 properties.
What to check before you switch
- Check OEM material specifications and any UL file numbers on the print; approvals are grade and producer specific.
- Dry the resin to the producer's moisture limit before molding; glass-filled nylon properties and surface finish suffer if it is wet.
- Compare shrinkage and warpage on the real tool; glass orientation makes flow and cross-flow shrinkage differ between brands.
- Confirm color and code: this data is for uncoloured material, and black versions (for example BK00564) carry their own data.
- Ask about the heat stabilizer type and any lubricant; they affect long-term heat ageing, electrical use and color.
Buying Ultramid A3WG6 or an equivalent
Send us the grade name, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks the data sheet and we quote Ultramid A3WG6 where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, saying clearly which one you would get. Orders start at one gaylord. For background on this resin family see Glass-filled nylon grades and buying guide; for several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.

Common questions
What is Ultramid A3WG6?
Ultramid A3WG6 is BASF's 30% glass fiber reinforced, heat ageing resistant nylon 66 (PA66-GF30) for injection molding, used for stiff, dimensionally stable parts such as housings, fans and automotive powertrain parts.
What is the melt flow or viscosity of Ultramid A3WG6?
BASF data shows a viscosity number of 145 cm³/g (ISO 307) and an MVR of 30 cm³/10 min at 275 °C under 5 kg (ISO 1133). Nylon is usually specified by viscosity number rather than MFR.
What is equivalent to Ultramid A3WG6?
Grades with similar published specs include Ascend Vydyne R530H NAT, a heat stabilized PA66 with 30% glass. Celanese Zytel 70G30HSL is similar but is listed as discontinued in the Americas. Additive packages and approvals differ, so none is a drop-in replacement.
Is Ultramid A3WG6 food contact compliant or UL listed?
The BASF data does not state food contact status, so ask BASF. For flammability, it lists UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm nominal and at 0.7 mm, with UL recognition listed as yes.
Can ResinBridge quote Ultramid A3WG6?
Yes. Send the grade name and volume. A polymer chemist checks it and we quote the grade where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, and say which. Orders start at one gaylord; U.S. and Canada only.
Need Ultramid A3WG6 or an equivalent?
A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
