PPS supplier: heat, chemicals and flame rating in one resin
Glass-filled polyphenylene sulfide holds its shape past 200°C, resists fuels, coolants and solvents, and reaches UL 94 V-0 without flame-retardant additives.

About PPS
PPS is a semi-crystalline high-temperature resin that sits between engineering nylons and PEEK. It is dimensionally stable, absorbs almost no moisture, resists nearly every fuel, coolant and solvent it meets in service, and is inherently flame retardant. Unfilled PPS is brittle, so most parts run a glass-filled or glass-and-mineral grade. It needs a hot mold (135–160°C) to crystallize fully and reach its rated heat performance.
Common applications
- Under-hood coolant and thermostat housings
- Water pump impellers and fuel-system components
- Electrical connectors, bobbins and sockets
- Pump, valve and flow-meter parts for chemical service
- Appliance and HVAC components near heat
- Metal replacement where corrosion is the problem
Typical properties
| Impact strength | Fair (notch-sensitive) |
|---|---|
| Heat (HDT) | ~105°C unfilled, ~260°C glass-filled |
| Flame rating | Inherently UL 94 V-0 |
| Clarity | Opaque |
| Chemical resistance | Outstanding |
| Relative cost | High |
How PPS compares
| PPS | PPA | PEEK | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Continuous use temperature | ~200–220°C | ~130–160°C | ~240–260°C |
| Chemical resistance | Outstanding | Very good | Outstanding |
| Strength and stiffness | High with glass; brittle unfilled | High; tougher than PPS | Very high |
| Processing | Injection; needs a hot mold | Injection; dry first, hot mold | Injection and extrusion; very hot melt |
| Relative cost | High | High | Very high |
Property ranges are general guidance and vary by grade and supplier; a polymer chemist confirms the exact spec against the data sheet and certificate of analysis for your application.
Tell us the PPS grade you run now
A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
What to send for an accurate quote
- The grade name, from any supplier, or a data sheet
- Color (natural, black or a custom match)
- Fill type and percentage, if any
- Melt flow, if you know it
- Quantity for this order and what you use in a year
- Ship-to city and state or province
Tell us the PPS fill your part needs
Send the PPS grade, glass or mineral loading and volume; a polymer chemist reviews it and we quote that grade or an equivalent.
