Request a QuoteThe short answer
Zytel 103HSL NC010 is an unreinforced, heat-stabilized polyamide 66 (PA66) with lubricant and mold release, sold mainly for injection molding. Zytel was a DuPont line; Celanese acquired it with most of DuPont’s Mobility & Materials business on November 1, 2022. Like most nylons it has no published melt flow rate; the data sheet gives a viscosity number of 150 cm³/g (ISO 307, 96% sulfuric acid). Density is 1.14 g/cm³ (ISO 1183), tensile modulus is 3,100 MPa dry and 1,400 MPa conditioned (ISO 527-2), and HDT is 70°C / 158°F at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75). Grades from other producers to ask about include Ultramid A3W and Vydyne 21SPC. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.
Also written as: Zytel 103HSL NC010 (natural), Zytel 103HSL BKB080 (black), Zytel 103 HSL. Quote the full code from your drawing or bag label; color and additive suffixes change the grade.

Zytel 103HSL specs from the data sheet
Typical values from Celanese’s current grade record for Zytel 103HSL NC010 in its Chemille materials database (checked October 31, 2026). UL 94, CTI, temperature index, the UL file number and processing settings come from the DuPont-era data sheet published through UL Prospector (form TDS-61078-en, May 2018), because the Celanese record does not list them. Dry / conditioned values are shown where the sheet gives both; conditioned means equilibrium at 23°C, 50% RH. Typical values are not specifications; the lot COA shows what you actually receive. Values only compare at the same test method and condition.

Grades to ask about instead of Zytel 103HSL
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Zytel 103HSL, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultramid A3W | BASF | MVR 100 cm³/10 min (275°C / 527°F, 5 kg, ISO 1133); VN 150 cm³/g | 1.13 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 3,000 / 1,100 MPa dry / conditioned (ISO 527); yield stress 85 / 50 MPa; HDT 75°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75); UL 94 V-2 at 0.8 and 1.5 mm | Close match. Easy-flowing PA66 that BASF lists as heat aging stabilized, with lubricant and release agent, for bearings, gear wheels, coil formers and cable connectors. Same viscosity number; conditioned stiffness is lower on BASF’s sheet (1,100 vs 1,400 MPa). Values from BASF data hosted by Albis (Material Data Center). Quote this alternative › |
| Vydyne 21SPC | Ascend Performance Materials | Not published | 1.14 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,800 / 1,800 MPa dry / conditioned (ISO 527-2); yield stress 86 / 56 MPa; HDT 70°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75-2/A); UL 94 V-2 at 0.4–3.0 mm | Partial match. General-purpose lubricated PA66 with the same density and HDT, but Ascend lists only a lubricant, no heat stabilizer, so long-term heat aging will differ. Ascend’s sheet lists FDA 21 CFR 177.1500 among agency ratings. Quote this alternative › |

Typical uses for Zytel 103HSL
Celanese’s grade record lists consumer goods, automotive and transportation, industrial, and electrical and electronics. What the published data points to:
- Unreinforced PA66 parts that see continuous heat, where an unstabilized grade would age faster (IEC 60216 index of 140°C at 20,000 h for tensile strength)
- Automotive parts molded to the PA66 specifications listed on the sheet (Ford, GM, Stellantis, VW, Mercedes, Honda and Hyundai material specs)
- Electrical parts that need UL 94 V-2 at thin walls (0.71 mm) and CTI 600 V
- Celanese describes the Zytel family as used in automotive, furniture, domestic appliance, sporting goods and construction parts
What to check before you switch
- Confirm you need the heat-stabilized code. 103HSL, 101L and other Zytel PA66 codes share base properties but not the stabilizer package. If the drawing names 103HSL, a non-stabilized grade is not a like-for-like swap.
- Vydyne 21SPC has no heat stabilizer on its sheet; ask Ascend which of its PA66 grades is heat stabilized if long-term heat is the reason for 103HSL.
- Ultramid A3W is BASF’s heat aging stabilized easy-flow PA66; compare its 0.8 mm V-2 listing with the 0.71 mm listing on the Zytel sheet if wall thickness is close.
- Check automotive approvals by spec number. Celanese lists Ford, GM, Stellantis and other OEM specs for 103HSL; an alternative must carry the same approval or your customer must accept it.
- Dry to below 0.20 % moisture before molding; wet nylon splays and loses melt viscosity. See the resin drying guide.
- Compare stiffness and impact at the same conditioning (dry as molded vs 50% RH); conditioned values are what the part sees in service.
- Run a trial lot and check shrinkage, cycle time and appearance before you switch production.
Buying Zytel 103HSL: price, lead time and lot size
- Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
- Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
- Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need Zytel 103HSL itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced, nylon price per pound and the monthly market update.
- Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
- Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
- If Zytel 103HSL itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.
Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
