Frequently asked questions
Minimums, samples, quotes, paperwork, shipping and payment, in one place.
Ordering and quotes
What's your minimum order?
One gaylord box, roughly 1,000 to 1,600 lb depending on the resin. From there we go up to several gaylords (LTL), truckload and railcar. See small-quantity orders.
Can I get a sample first?
Yes. Samples of about 50 lb are available upon credit approval, so you can qualify a grade before you order a full gaylord.
How fast will I get a quote?
We aim to send your quote within one to three business days. Specialty grades and unusual freight can take longer.
Does a quote cost anything?
No. A quote is free, there is no commitment, and you don't need an account.
What should I send for a quote?
Whatever you have of these: the grade name from any supplier, or its data sheet; the color (natural, black or a custom match); fill type and percentage, if any; melt flow, if you know it; quantity for this order and what you use in a year; and the city it ships to. A photo of the bag or box label works too. You can also send just a data sheet.
I don't know my grade. Can you still help?
Yes. Tell us what the part is, what it has to handle (heat, chemicals, outdoor use, impact) and how it is made, and a polymer chemist will suggest a grade. If a molder makes the part for you, ask them which grade or melt flow they run, because that is the fastest way to a quote. The resin selector and the glossary help with the terms.
Can you match a grade from another supplier?
Usually. We look for the same grade first, then a qualified equivalent. An equivalent is a different product, so your quote says which one you are getting, and any change of grade or source is agreed with you in writing first.
What are typical lead times?
It depends on the material, grade and volume. Stocked grades ship sooner; specialty and compounded grades can take several weeks. We confirm the actual lead time with your quote.
Paperwork and quality
What paperwork comes with the resin?
Every lot ships with a certificate of analysis (COA) listing that lot's measured properties, tested to ASTM or ISO methods. See what a COA shows.
Do you sell prime or recycled resin?
Both. We supply prime resin and recycled grades (post-consumer PCR and post-industrial PIR). Tell us which you need, and your quote says which one you are getting.
Do you have food-contact or medical grades?
We can source grades that comply with FDA food-contact regulations for stated conditions of use. We do not supply materials for implantable or in-body medical devices. See FDA and medical grades.
Shipping and payment
Where do you ship?
Across the U.S. and Canada. We don't ship outside those two countries.
Can I choose domestic or imported resin?
Yes. Tell us domestic only, domestic preferred, or import OK for the best price, and we quote accordingly.
How is freight handled?
Ask us when you request a quote. Give us the ship-to city, and mention it if the delivery site has no loading dock, and we will go over freight with you.
Can you ship straight to my molder?
Yes. Put the molder's city in the ship-to field and their name in the notes.
What are your payment terms?
ACH, check or wire on first orders. Net 30 after credit approval.
Surplus resin
Do you buy surplus resin?
Yes. If you have resin left from a canceled program or an overbuy, send us the details. If we have a buyer, we make you an offer. If not, we can list it for you. See sell surplus resin.
Do you sell discounted surplus lots?
When we have them. Current lots are on the surplus resin page, with the COA, properties and terms for each.
