The short answer

Ultramid B3WG6 is a polyamide 6, 30% glass fiber (PA6-GF30), heat ageing resistant, from BASF. The data sheet lists viscosity number (dry) as 140 cm³/g (ISO 307, 1157, 1628). Density: 1.36 g/cm³ (1360 kg/m³). Grades from other producers to ask about include Zytel 73G30HSL NC010 and Vydyne B 30 GF NT KW2. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.

Grades to ask about instead of Ultramid B3WG6

These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Ultramid B3WG6, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.

Conditioned stiffness, impact and shrinkage (0.2 / 0.6 %) differ from the BASF sheet, and the stabilizer package is Celanese's own. Confirm current regional availability with Celanese. Dry values are close to B3WG6, but the sheet gives no conditioned data. Ascend specifies an organic heat stabilizer and a lubricant; BASF does not state its stabilizer type, so ask before assuming the two match. Not a drop-in replacement.

Typical uses for Ultramid B3WG6

BASF describes B3WG6 as a glass fibre reinforced, heat ageing resistant injection molding grade used, for example, for automobile manifolds and pedals.

PA6 GF30 or PA66 GF30?

B3WG6 is the nylon 6 version. Nylon 6 melts lower than nylon 66 and usually molds more easily with a better surface finish, which suits glass-filled parts that do not see high sustained heat. When the part has to hold up closer to the melt, buyers usually step up to a PA66 GF30 such as Ultramid A3WG6. See PA6 GF30 properties and PA6 vs PA66.

What to check before you switch

  • Check the part print and OEM specs; PA6 and PA66 glass grades are not interchangeable without approval, and neither are brands.
  • Dry to the producer's moisture limit before molding and compare dry versus conditioned data for the end use.
  • Run first-article dimensions; flow and cross-flow shrinkage of glass-filled PA6 varies by grade and tool.
  • Confirm the color code (uncoloured vs black, for example BK00564) because data and approvals are code specific.
  • Ask about heat stabilizer type (organic vs other systems) if the part sees long-term heat or electrical contact.

Buying Ultramid B3WG6 or an equivalent

Send us the grade name, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks the data sheet and we quote Ultramid B3WG6 where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, saying clearly which one you would get. Orders start at one gaylord. For background on this resin family see Glass-filled nylon grades and buying guide; for several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.

Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.

Common questions

What is Ultramid B3WG6?

Ultramid B3WG6 is BASF's 30% glass fiber reinforced, heat ageing resistant nylon 6 (PA6-GF30) for injection molding. BASF cites automobile manifolds and pedals as typical uses.

What is the melt flow or viscosity of Ultramid B3WG6?

BASF lists a viscosity number of 140 cm³/g (ISO 307) and an MVR of 30 cm³/10 min at 275 °C under 5 kg (ISO 1133).

What is equivalent to Ultramid B3WG6?

Grades with similar published specs include Celanese Zytel 73G30HSL NC010 and Ascend Vydyne B 30 GF NT KW2. Both are heat stabilized PA6 with 30% glass, but stabilizer and lubricant packages are producer specific and approvals differ, so none is a drop-in replacement.

Is Ultramid B3WG6 food contact compliant or UL listed?

The BASF sheet does not state food contact status, so ask BASF. It lists UL 94 HB at 1.5 mm nominal and at 3.05 mm, and says a UL Yellow Card is available.

Can ResinBridge quote Ultramid B3WG6?

Yes. Send the grade name and volume. A polymer chemist checks it and we quote the grade where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, and say which. Orders start at one gaylord; U.S. and Canada only.

Need Ultramid B3WG6 or an equivalent?

A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
