About FEP
FEP is a fully fluorinated, melt-processable resin. It is clear in thin sections, has a very low dielectric constant, does not burn readily, and weathers very well outdoors. It extrudes at high line speeds, which is why it is a standard for plenum-rated cable insulation and thin-wall tubing. Its service temperature is lower than PFA or PTFE, so the usual question is whether the application really needs the extra 50–60°C.
Common applications
- Plenum and data cable insulation
- Appliance and high-temperature hook-up wire
- Chemical and laboratory tubing
- Heat-shrink tubing and roll covers
- Release film and liners
- Outdoor and solar front-sheet film

- The grade name, from any supplier, or a data sheet
- Color (natural, black or a custom match)
- Fill type and percentage, if any
- Melt flow, if you know it
- Quantity for this order and what you use in a year
- Ship-to city and state or province
FEP grades by melt flow rate
Send the melt flow rate and whether it runs as wire, tube, film or molded parts, and a polymer chemist returns a matched grade and quote.
