The short answer

Delrin 500P NC010 is Delrin USA, LLC's acetal homopolymer (POM-H), medium viscosity, sold for injection molding. Published melt flow is MFR 15 g/10 min, MVR 13 cm³/10 min, measured at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133, and density is 1.42 g/cm³ (ISO 1183). Grades from other producers to ask about include Hostaform C 13021, Celcon M140 and Celcon M90. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.

Grades to ask about instead of Delrin 500P

These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Delrin 500P, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.

GradeProducerMelt flowDensityKey propertyHow it compares
Hostaform C 13021CelaneseMVR 12.0 cm³/10 min; MFR 14.0 g/10 min (ISO 1133; Celanese manual table)1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)Tensile modulus 2,900 MPa (421,000 psi), ISO 527; flexural modulus 2,800 MPa (406,000 psi), ISO 178Partial match. Acetal COPOLYMER, easy flowing grade; flow within 10% of 500P (MFR 14 vs 15 g/10 min). Melting point 166°C / 331°F vs 178°C / 352°F for 500P. Values from Celanese's Hostaform product manual (data as of June 2011).
Celcon M140CelaneseMVR 12.0 cm³/10 min (ISO 1133; Celanese manual table)1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)Tensile modulus 2,740 MPa (397,000 psi), ISO 527; flexural modulus 2,640 MPa (383,000 psi), ISO 178Partial match. Acetal COPOLYMER that Celanese calls an easy flowing grade for precision and thin-walled parts. Flow is close to 500P (MVR 12 vs 13), but stiffness and melting point are lower than homopolymer. Values from Celanese's Hostaform/Celcon product manual (data as of June 2011).
Celcon M90CelaneseMVR 8.0 cm³/10 min at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg (ISO 1133); MFR 9.0 g/10 min (ASTM D1238, 2015 sheet)1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)Flexural modulus 2,550 MPa (370,000 psi), ISO 178Partial match. Acetal COPOLYMER, not homopolymer; lower flow than Delrin 500P (outside a 20% flow window), lower stiffness, different chemistry
Hostaform C9021CelaneseMVR 8.0 cm³/10 min; MFR 9.0 g/10 min (ISO 1133; Celanese manual table, test load and temperature not printed there)1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183)Tensile modulus 2,850 MPa (413,000 psi), ISO 527; flexural modulus 2,700 MPa (392,000 psi), ISO 178Partial match. Acetal COPOLYMER general purpose injection grade; lower flow than 500P (MVR 8 vs 13) and lower stiffness. Values from Celanese's Hostaform product manual (data as of June 2011). Entec states it is FDA compliant; ask Celanese for the letter.

Typical uses for Delrin 500P

From Delrin USA, LLC's data sheet and published listings:

  • Producer description: medium viscosity acetal homopolymer with improved processing for injection molding; no end uses listed on the sheet we opened
  • Automotive specifications listed include ASTM D6778 POM0113, Ford WSK-M4D637-A2 and GM GMP.POM.002

What to check before you switch

  • Brand owner shown as Delrin USA, LLC on delrin.com; Entec lists the producer as 'Delrin'. Confirm the producer name on the sheet you receive.
  • Property data come from a 2019 UL Prospector copy issued under an earlier brand owner name; ask Delrin USA for the current TDS (Delrin's own data center requires a browser login).
  • The listed alternatives are acetal COPOLYMERS. Homopolymer is stiffer with a higher melting point; copolymer generally has better hot-water and alkali resistance. Do not treat them as drop-in replacements without part testing.
  • Celcon M90 and Hostaform C 9021 flow less than 500P (MVR 8 vs 13 cm³/10 min). Celcon M140 and Hostaform C 13021 (MVR 12) are close in flow but are still copolymers. No openable data sheet for another producer's acetal HOMOPOLYMER (for example Asahi Kasei Tenac) was found in this pass. All four listed copolymers are Celanese grades; Celcon M90 and Hostaform C 9021 are Celanese sister grades with the same published flow.
  • The 500P sheet has no food-contact statement; Delrin sells a separate food-grade variant (FG500P NC-010, listed by Entec). Specify FG grades for food contact.
  • Compare melt flow, density and impact only at the same test condition and method (ASTM vs. ISO results differ).
  • Ask for the producer's food-contact or regulatory letter for the exact grade if the part needs one.
  • Run a trial lot and check shrinkage, cycle time and appearance before you switch production.

Buying Delrin 500P or an equivalent

Send us the grade name, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks the data sheet and we quote Delrin 500P where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, saying clearly which one you would get. Orders start at one gaylord. For background on this resin family see Acetal grades and buying guide; for several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.

Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
