Celcon M90: specs and equivalent grades
Celanese medium-viscosity acetal copolymer (POM-C) for general-purpose injection molding and thin-wall extrusion. Published data, grades from other producers to ask about, and how to request a quote from one gaylord.
Request a QuoteThe short answer
Celcon M90 is Celanese's medium-viscosity acetal copolymer (POM-C), sold for general-purpose injection molding and for extrusion of thin-walled tubing and thin-gauge film. Celanese's data sheet also points to Hostaform C 9021, a related Celanese grade. Celanese's current data lists melt flow of 9 g/10 min (MFR) and 8 cm³/10 min (MVR), both by ISO 1133 at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, and density of 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183). Grades from other producers to ask about include Duracon M90-44 and Ultraform N2320 003 AT. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.

Celcon M90 specs from the data sheet
Typical values from Celanese's current grade data in its Chemille materials database (checked October 2026). The current grade page shows ISO values only, so the older ASTM values have been dropped. Processing settings come from a 2023 UL Prospector print of Celanese's data sheet. Typical values are not specifications; the lot COA shows what you actually receive. Values only compare at the same test method and condition.

Grades to ask about instead of Celcon M90
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Celcon M90, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duracon M90-44 | Polyplastics (Daicel group) | MFR 9 g/10 min; MVR 8 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,700 MPa (ISO 527); flexural modulus 2,500 MPa (ISO 178); notched Charpy 6.0 kJ/m² (ISO 179/1eA); HDT 95°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Close match on flow, density and notched impact. Slightly lower flexural modulus and HDT. The producer lists mold shrinkage of 2.3 % / 2.1 % (flow / transverse) against 2.0 % / 1.9 % for Celcon M90, so check dimensions on first articles. | Ultraform N2320 003 AT | BASF | MVR 7.5 cm³/10 min; MFR 8.8 g/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,700 MPa; yield stress 64 MPa (ISO 527); notched Charpy 6.5 kJ/m² (ISO 179/1eA); HDT 95°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Partial match. BASF's standard fast-setting injection grade, with slightly lower flow, similar stiffness and lower HDT. BASF's brochure gives no flexural modulus. BASF also sells LEV (reduced emission) and PRO (medical) versions under separate codes; confirm which code BASF supplies in North America. Quote this alternative › |

Typical uses for Celcon M90
From Celanese's grade data:
- General-purpose injection-molded parts
- Extruded thin-walled tubing
- Thin-gauge film
- Celanese also lists profile, sheet and film extrusion, calendering and blow molding among processing methods
What to check before you switch
- Copolymer vs. homopolymer: Celcon M90 is a copolymer. Delrin is a homopolymer, stiffer and stronger but with different shrinkage and a narrower process window. See acetal homopolymer vs. copolymer and Delrin 500P.
- Same producer, other name: Celanese lists Hostaform C 9021 alongside Celcon M90. Ask Celanese whether a Hostaform lot is accepted under your Celcon approval before treating them as one grade.
- Acetal shrinks about 2 % and keeps shrinking slightly after molding. Hold mold temperature (80–120°C on the M90 sheet) and pack settings once dimensions are approved.
- Keep acetal away from PVC in the same barrel; the two degrade each other. Purge thoroughly between them.
- Celcon grades with other additive packages (for example UV stabilization) carry different codes. Quote the full grade code from your drawing.
- Compare melt flow, density and impact only at the same test condition and method (ASTM vs. ISO results differ).
- Ask for the producer's food-contact or regulatory letter for the exact grade if the part needs one.
- Run a trial lot and check shrinkage, cycle time and appearance before you switch production.
Buying Celcon M90: price, lead time and lot size
- Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
- Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
- Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need Celcon M90 itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced and the monthly market update.
- Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
- Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
- If Celcon M90 itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.
Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
