Grades to ask about instead of Delrin 150
These grades have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at processing shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Delrin 150, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Delrin FG150 NC010 | Delrin USA, LLC | MFR 2.3 g/10 min, MVR 1.9 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.42 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 3,200 MPa, ISO 527; Charpy notched 11 kJ/m², ISO 179/1eA | Closest match. Same published values as 150 NC010; Delrin describes it as a high viscosity extrusion grade developed for food contact, made under GMP, with individual compliance statements available from Delrin. Ask for the statement that covers your use. |
| Delrin 100P NC010 | Delrin USA, LLC | MFR 2.5 g/10 min, MVR 2.1 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.42 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,900 MPa (420,000 psi), ISO 527; Charpy notched 14 kJ/m², ISO 179/1eA | Partial match. Also a high viscosity homopolymer with similar flow, but positioned for injection molding. Lower stiffness and higher notched impact than 150 on the published data. |
| Celcon M25 | Celanese | MVR 2.2 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133); MFR 2.5 g/10 min (ASTM D1238) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,460 MPa (357,000 psi), ISO 527; melting point 166°C / 331°F | Partial match. Acetal COPOLYMER, high molecular weight, used mainly for extrusion. Flow is close to 150, but stiffness and melting point are lower (178°C / 352°F for 150). Typical uses for Delrin 150
From Delrin USA, LLC's product database and website:
- Delrin describes 150 NC010 as a high viscosity acetal homopolymer specifically designed for extrusion processes, with low die deposit and excellent thermal stability.
- The producer database lists extrusion, sheet extrusion, other extrusion and injection molding as processing methods, with settings for both extrusion and molding.
- Extruded stock shapes for machining: Delrin's parts and shapes page says Delrin can be extruded into rods, bars and sheets and gives machined valve components, gears, bearings, rollers, fittings, bushings and spacers as examples. That page covers Delrin in general and does not name a grade.
- The record does not list specific end uses for 150 NC010, and it gives no thick-wall molding claim. For molded parts in high-viscosity homopolymer, compare 150 with 100P, which Delrin positions for molding.
What to check before you switch
- Molding rather than extruding? See Delrin 100P (similar flow, molding grade), Delrin 500P (medium flow) and Delrin 900P (higher flow). For the trade-offs, see acetal homopolymer vs. copolymer, acetal vs. nylon and acetal (POM) properties.
- Grade naming: the current Delrin product database (checked November 2026) lists Delrin 150 NC010 and Delrin FG150 NC010. We did not find 150SA, 150E or a black 150 code in that list; older literature uses some of these names. Quote the full code from your bag label or drawing and we will check it.
- Brand owner: Delrin is now owned by Delrin USA, LLC, not DuPont. Older data sheets carry the DuPont name; see the resin brand ownership tracker. Ask for the current TDS.
- This page covers resin pellets for extruders and molders. If you buy finished rod, plate or sheet, that comes from a shape extruder or distributor.
- Celcon M25 and Hostaform C 2521 are acetal COPOLYMERS. Homopolymer is stiffer with a higher melting point and better creep resistance; copolymer generally has better hot-water and alkali resistance. Do not treat them as drop-in replacements without part testing. For a homopolymer from another producer, ask about Asahi Kasei Tenac high-viscosity grades; we will compare the current sheet with 150.
- The 150 NC010 record has no food-contact statement. Delrin sells FG150 NC010 for food contact; specify the FG grade and ask for the compliance statement for your use.
- Compare melt flow, density and impact only at the same test condition and method (ASTM vs. ISO results differ).
- Run a trial lot and check output rate, die deposit, dimensions and surface before you switch production.
