Request a QuoteThe short answer
Delrin 511DP is a medium-viscosity acetal homopolymer (POM-H) with enhanced crystallization, which Delrin says gives faster cycle times, excellent creep and fatigue resistance, low warpage and fewer voids. If your drawing says Delrin 511P: that older code still appears on distributor listings, but Delrin’s materials data center (93 products, October 2026) lists 511DP and no 511P, so ask Delrin USA which current code your approval maps to. Delrin was a DuPont brand; since November 2023 it has been owned by Delrin USA, LLC, with 80.1% held by an affiliate of TJC and 19.9% by DuPont. Published melt flow is 14 g/10 min (MVR 13 cm³/10 min), measured at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133, and density is 1.42 g/cm³ (ISO 1183). Grades from other producers to ask about include Ultraform S2320 003 AT, Celcon M90 and Kepital F20-03, all acetal copolymers. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.
Also written as: Delrin 511DP NC010 and Delrin 511DP BK402 (color codes) in Delrin’s data center. Older callouts may read Delrin 511P NC010. Delrin FG511DP NC010 and Delrin 511CPE NC010 are separate grades, not color codes. Quote the full code from your drawing or bag label; color and additive suffixes change the grade.

Grades to ask about instead of Delrin 511DP
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Delrin 511DP, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ultraform S2320 003 AT | BASF | MVR 11 cm³/10 min; MFR 13 g/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,700 MPa; yield stress 64 MPa (ISO 527); notched Charpy 6 kJ/m² (ISO 179/1eA); HDT 100°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Partial match. Free-flowing, rapid-solidifying copolymer for thin-walled parts, with a drinking water listing (cold and warm) per BASF. Flow is close, but as a copolymer it is less stiff (2,700 vs 3,500 MPa tensile modulus) and melts lower (167°C vs 178°C). Quote this alternative › |
| Celcon M90 | Celanese | MVR 8 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,760 MPa (ISO 527); flexural modulus 2,550 MPa (ISO 178); notched Charpy 6 kJ/m² (ISO 179); HDT 101°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Partial match. All three are copolymers. We did not find a homopolymer from another producer with a full data sheet we could open; Asahi Kasei lists Tenac homopolymer grades (for example Tenac 4060, described as a medium-viscosity homopolymer). If you need homopolymer to homopolymer, say so and a polymer chemist will check the data. Brand owners and grade names change; confirm on the current data sheet.
Typical uses for Delrin 511DP
From the Delrin data sheet:
- Parts where faster cycle times matter (enhanced crystallization)
- Parts that need creep and fatigue resistance, low warpage and fewer voids
- Automotive, domestic appliance, sports, industrial engineering, electronics and consumer goods parts (the Delrin family listing)
- Parts with emission limits: below 8 mg/kg by VDA 275
What to check before you switch
- Old code on the drawing: if your approval names Delrin 511P, ask Delrin USA which current code replaces it and whether your customer accepts the change. Do not assume the numbers match the old sheet.
- Homopolymer vs. copolymer: all three grades in the table are copolymers. Expect lower stiffness (2,550–2,760 MPa flexural or tensile modulus on their sheets vs. 3,200 MPa flexural for 511DP), a lower melting point (165–167°C vs. 178°C) and different shrinkage. See acetal homopolymer vs. copolymer.
- Same producer: Delrin 500P is Delrin’s general-purpose medium-viscosity homopolymer; 511DP adds enhanced crystallization. Moving between them changes cycle and shrinkage behavior, so re-check dimensions.
- Owner and documents: Delrin moved from DuPont to Delrin USA, LLC. Older paperwork may show the DuPont name; ask for the current data sheet and UL file under the new owner.
- Gears and precision parts: 511DP shrinks 1.9 % / 1.8 % (ISO 294-4). Re-check tooth form and fits on first articles after any grade change. See best plastic for gears.
- Keep acetal away from PVC in the same barrel and purge thoroughly between them; the two degrade each other.
- Compare melt flow, density and impact only at the same test condition and method (ASTM vs. ISO results differ).
- Ask for the producer’s food-contact or regulatory letter for the exact grade if the part needs one.
- Run a trial lot and check shrinkage, cycle time and appearance before you switch production.
Buying Delrin 511DP: price, lead time and lot size
- Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
- Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
- Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need Delrin 511DP itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced and the monthly market update.
- Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
- Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
- If Delrin 511DP itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.
Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
