PA6 GF30 is nylon 6 with 30% short glass fiber. It does most of what PA66 GF30 does, with a better surface finish and a little easier processing, because nylon 6 melts about 40°C lower. In exchange it gives up roughly 30–40°C of heat deflection.
Typical PA6 GF30 properties
| Property | Typical value | US units | Test method |
|---|---|---|---|
| Density | 1.35–1.37 g/cm³ | ~0.049 lb/in³ | ASTM D792 / ISO 1183 |
| Tensile strength | 150–185 MPa | 21,800–26,800 psi | ASTM D638 / ISO 527 |
| Flexural modulus | 8.0–9.5 GPa | 1,160,000–1,380,000 psi | ASTM D790 / ISO 178 |
| Notched Izod impact | 100–140 J/m | 1.9–2.6 ft·lb/in | ASTM D256 |
| Heat deflection, 1.8 MPa (264 psi) | 200–210°C | 392–410°F | ASTM D648 / ISO 75 |
| Water absorption, 24 h | 0.90–1.20% | ASTM D570 / ISO 62 | |
| Mold shrinkage | 0.3–0.8% | 0.003–0.007 in/in | ASTM D955 / ISO 294-4 |
Typical ranges for standard grades, dry as molded, from published data sheets. Your grade’s own data sheet and the lot COA are what count. Notched Izod uses 3.2 mm (1/8 in) bars.

What changes these numbers
- Moisture matters more. Nylon 6 takes on water a little faster than nylon 66. Stiffness can fall from about 9 GPa dry to under 6 GPa once conditioned, so check which column of the data sheet you are reading.
- Hot mold for looks. A mold at 80°C or more gives a better surface and less fiber show. A cold mold gives a dull, fiber-rich surface.
- Additive package. Heat-stabilized, impact-modified and flame-retardant grades shift the impact and aging numbers more than the base values.
- Anisotropy. Cross-flow shrinkage runs about 2.5 times the flow-direction value. Gate location decides how flat the part comes out.

Common questions
What is the density of PA6 GF30?
Typically about 1.35–1.37 g/cm³ (0.049 lb/in³).
PA6 GF30 or PA66 GF30: which is better?
PA66 GF30 handles more heat (heat deflection about 235–250°C vs. 200–210°C) and takes on a little less water. PA6 GF30 gives a better surface and is easier to mold. For most brackets and housings that do not run hot, either works.
Does PA6 GF30 need drying?
Yes. Dry at about 66–82°C (150–180°F) for 2–5 hours. The moisture target scales with the polymer fraction: about 0.14% at 30% glass.
Need PA6 GF30, or something close?
A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
