The short answer

ExxonMobil LL 1002 is ExxonMobil's ethylene 1-butene linear low density polyethylene for blown film. Under ExxonMobil's Signature Polymers renaming, the ExxonMobil LLDPE LL 1002 Series is now sold as ExxonMobil C4LL 2018 Series, and LL 1002.09 maps to C4LL 2018pw and C4LL 2018pw.09; the product itself has not changed, only the name. Published melt index is 2.0 g/10 min, measured at 190°C, 2.16 kg, ASTM D1238, and density is 0.918 g/cm³ (ASTM D792), per the C4LL 2018 Series Blown data sheet. That sheet lists availability in Africa and Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe. Grades from other producers to ask about include NOVAPOL PF-0218-F, Formolene L42022B and Petrothene GA502024. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.

Also written as: ExxonMobil LLDPE LL 1002 Series, LL 1002.09, LL 1002YB, LL 1002BU, LL 1002AY, and the new names ExxonMobil C4LL 2018 Series, C4LL 2018.YB, C4LL 2018.BU, C4LL 2018.AY, C4LL 2018pw and C4LL 2018pw.09. Quote the full code from your drawing or bag label; the suffix marks the additive package and the cast or blown version, and ExxonMobil says existing additive designators carry over to the new names.

The producer's sheet gives no drying step; polyethylene does not normally need drying, but material moved from a cold warehouse into a warm plant can pick up surface condensation, so let it reach room temperature in the closed box before opening.

Grades to ask about instead of ExxonMobil LL 1002

These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at processing shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names ExxonMobil LL 1002, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.

Typical uses for ExxonMobil LL 1002

From ExxonMobil's C4LL 2018 Series Blown data sheet:

  • Agricultural and mulch film
  • Bag in box
  • Food packaging and freezer film
  • Form fill and seal packaging
  • Garment film
  • General and industrial packaging
  • Institutional can liners and trash can liners
  • Lamination film and multilayer packaging film
  • Produce bags on a roll
  • Shoppers

What to check before you switch

  • Your drawing or approval may say LL 1002 or LL 1002.09. ExxonMobil's identifier maps them to C4LL 2018 Series and C4LL 2018pw / 2018pw.09. Ask for the current data sheet under the new name and keep both names on your spec.
  • Name the suffix. C4LL 2018.YB has no slip or antiblock; C4LL 2018.BU (legacy LL 1002BU) carries 3,500 ppm antiblock and 1,500 ppm slip; C4LL 2018.AY (legacy LL 1002AY) is a cast film version.
  • The series sheet does not list North America. For U.S. or Canadian supply, Petrothene GA502024 (LyondellBasell lists North America) or Formolene L42022B from Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. may be easier to source; we confirm on the quote.
  • ExxonMobil's haze figure was measured with 10% LDPE added. Do not compare it with straight-resin haze from other producers.
  • Compare melt index, density and film properties only at the same test condition, gauge and blow-up ratio.
  • Run a trial lot and check bubble stability, gauge, seal and tear before you switch production.

Buying ExxonMobil LL 1002: price, lead time and lot size

  • Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
  • Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
  • Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need ExxonMobil LL 1002 itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced and the monthly market update.
  • Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
  • Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
  • If ExxonMobil LL 1002 itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.

Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.

Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
