Request a QuoteThe short answer
NOVAPOL PF-0218-F is NOVA Chemicals' butene copolymer linear low density polyethylene film resin with a process antioxidant only (no slip or antiblock). NOVA lists it for stretch wrap, blend resin and industrial packaging. Published melt index is 2.0 g/10 min, measured at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ASTM D1238, and density is 0.918 g/cm³ (ASTM D792), per NOVA's PF-0218 series data sheet. NOVA Chemicals has been part of Borouge Group International, the OMV and ADNOC (XRG) venture, since the deal completed at the end of March 2026; the NOVAPOL brand name is unchanged. Grades from other producers to ask about include Formolene L42022B, Petrothene GA502024 and ExxonMobil LL 1002 (now ExxonMobil C4LL 2018). They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.
Also written as: PF-0218-F, PF0218F, NOVAPOL PF-0218 series. The same base resin comes as PF-0218-B (slip 751 ppm, antiblock 3150 ppm) and PF-0218-D (slip 1500 ppm, antiblock 6300 ppm). Quote the full code from your drawing or bag label; the letter suffix changes the additive package.

The producer's sheet gives no drying step; polyethylene does not normally need drying, but material moved from a cold warehouse into a warm plant can pick up surface condensation, so let it reach room temperature in the closed box before opening.
Grades to ask about instead of NOVAPOL PF-0218-F
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at processing shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names NOVAPOL PF-0218-F, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formolene L42022B | Formosa Plastics USA | 2.0 g/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ASTM D1238) | 0.919 g/cm³ (ASTM D1505) | Dart 65 g/mil; tear MD / TD 110 / 570 g/mil; haze 35% (25 µm blown film, 2.5:1 BUR) | Close match. Gas-phase butene LLDPE for blown and cast film (blending, industrial liners and packaging, garment bags, coextrusion). Same MI, density 0.001 higher. L42022B has no slip or antiblock; L42022E2 adds 7,000 ppm antiblock and 1,350 ppm slip. Formosa states it meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1520. Film data are per mil, so compare at the same gauge. From each producer's published data. Brand owners and grade names change; confirm on the current data sheet.
Typical uses for NOVAPOL PF-0218-F
From NOVA Chemicals' PF-0218 Series data sheet:
- PF-0218-F: stretch wrap, blend resin, industrial packaging
- PF-0218-B: trash bags, liners, general packaging
- PF-0218-D: industrial liners, heavy duty bags
What to check before you switch
- Name the letter suffix on your RFQ. PF-0218-F has no slip or antiblock; -B and -D do, and slip and antiblock change COF, blocking and printing.
- NOVA Chemicals changed owners at the end of March 2026 when it became part of Borouge International. The NOVAPOL grade name is unchanged; ask for the current data sheet and regulatory letter so your file shows the current company.
- Formolene L42022B reports film data per mil; NOVA reports grams at 1.0 mil. Convert before you compare dart and tear.
- ExxonMobil's C4LL 2018 Series sheet does not list North American availability. Confirm supply region before you plan a trial.
- Compare melt index, density and film properties only at the same test condition, gauge and blow-up ratio.
- Run a trial lot and check bubble stability, gauge, seal and tear before you switch production.
Buying NOVAPOL PF-0218-F: price, lead time and lot size
- Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
- Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
- Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need NOVAPOL PF-0218-F itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced and the monthly market update.
- Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
- Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
- If NOVAPOL PF-0218-F itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.
Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
