Celcon M270: specs and equivalent grades
Celanese high-flow acetal copolymer (POM-C) for multi-cavity, intricate and hard-to-fill molds. Published data, grades from other producers to ask about, and how to request a quote from one gaylord.
Request a QuoteThe short answer
Celcon M270 is Celanese’s lower molecular weight, high-flow acetal copolymer (POM-C), designed for moldability in multi-cavity, intricate or hard-to-fill molds. Celanese sells its acetal as Celcon in North America and as Hostaform elsewhere; the M270 sheet points to Hostaform C 27021 as the related grade. Published melt volume rate is 23 cm³/10 min, measured at 190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133, and density is 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183). Grades from other producers to ask about include Duracon M270-44, Kepital F30-03 and Ultraform W2320 003 AT. They are not identical, so compare the data sheets and run a trial before switching.
Also written as: Celcon M270™ (Celanese’s styling) and Celcon M270 ECO-B, a separate code listed on UL Prospector. Celanese cross-references Hostaform C 27021. Quote the full code from your drawing or bag label; color and additive suffixes change the grade.

Celcon M270 specs from the data sheet
Typical values checked against Celanese’s Chemille database on October 31, 2026, from Celanese’s Celcon M270 data as reproduced by a data sheet host (Susheng, in UL Prospector format), checked October 2026. Typical values are not specifications; the lot COA shows what you actually receive. Values only compare at the same test method and condition.

Grades to ask about instead of Celcon M270
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Celcon M270, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duracon M270-44 | Daicel (formerly Polyplastics) | MFR 27 g/10 min; MVR 23 cm³/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,800 MPa (ISO 527); flexural modulus 2,550 MPa (ISO 178); notched Charpy 5.3 kJ/m² (ISO 179/1eA); HDT 100°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Close match on flow, density and notched impact. Flexural modulus is slightly lower (2,550 vs 2,750 MPa). Daicel lists mold shrinkage of 2.2 % in both directions on a 60 × 60 × 2 mm plaque, so check dimensions on first articles. Daicel took over the Polyplastics engineering plastics business on April 1, 2026, so new paperwork may carry the Daicel name. Quote this alternative › |
| Kepital F30-03 | Korea Engineering Plastics (KEP) | 28 g/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Flexural modulus 2,700 MPa (ISO 178); notched Charpy 5.5 kJ/m² (ISO 179); HDT 101°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Close match. Low-viscosity, high-flow grade for thin-walled injection-molded parts, with similar stiffness and HDT and slightly higher flow. KEP is owned by Celanese (50%), Mitsubishi Gas Chemical (40%) and Mitsubishi Corp. (10%) and its owners market the resin, so ask which channel will supply it. Data provided by KEP Americas. | Ultraform W2320 003 AT | BASF | MVR 25 cm³/10 min; MFR 29.4 g/10 min (190°C / 374°F, 2.16 kg, ISO 1133) | 1.41 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Tensile modulus 2,850 MPa; yield stress 65 MPa (ISO 527); notched Charpy 4.5 kJ/m² (ISO 179/1eA); HDT 100°C at 1.8 MPa (ISO 75) | Partial match. BASF positions it as a very free-flowing, rapid-solidifying grade for demanding processing where mechanical requirements are lower. Slightly higher flow and stiffness, lower notched impact and HDT. LEV (reduced emission), PRO (medical) and BMB versions carry separate codes. Quote this alternative › |

Typical uses for Celcon M270
From Celanese’s description of the grade:
- Multi-cavity injection molds
- Intricate parts and hard-to-fill molds
- General-purpose parts where a fast molding cycle matters (the sheet lists fast molding cycle and good formability)
What to check before you switch
- Flow vs. toughness: M270 is the high-flow, lower molecular weight member of the Celcon line. Its notched Charpy (5.2 kJ/m²) is lower than Celcon M90 (6 kJ/m² on the M90 sheet). If the part was qualified on M90 for impact, test before moving up in flow.
- Same producer, other name: Celanese cross-references Hostaform C 27021. Ask Celanese whether a Hostaform lot is accepted under your Celcon approval before treating them as one grade.
- Ultraform W2320 003 AT is positioned by BASF for parts with lower mechanical requirements; its notched Charpy is 4.5 kJ/m². Check snap fits and impact-loaded features.
- Copolymer vs. homopolymer: Delrin 900P has similar flow but is a homopolymer, stiffer and higher melting, with different shrinkage. See acetal homopolymer vs. copolymer.
- Acetal shrinks about 2 % and keeps shrinking slightly after molding. Hold mold temperature and pack settings once dimensions are approved.
- Keep acetal away from PVC in the same barrel and purge thoroughly between them; the two degrade each other.
- Compare melt flow, density and impact only at the same test condition and method (ASTM vs. ISO results differ).
- Ask for the producer’s food-contact or regulatory letter for the exact grade if the part needs one.
- Run a trial lot and check shrinkage, cycle time and appearance before you switch production.
Buying Celcon M270: price, lead time and lot size
- Lot size. From one gaylord to a railcar. See gaylord, LTL and truckload for typical weights per box.
- Where it ships from. 22+ partner warehouse locations. Material already in a partner warehouse usually moves sooner than a grade that has to come from the producer; your quote says which applies.
- Price. We do not publish prices because they move with feedstock, freight and order size. What moves your price most: lot size, color, ship-to region, and whether you need Celcon M270 itself or can accept a matched alternative. See how resin is priced and the monthly market update.
- Paperwork. Supplier COA on every prime lot (what a COA shows). Ask for the producer’s regulatory letter or UL file if your part needs them.
- Trying an alternative? Start with one gaylord as a trial lot, molded and checked before you commit a full release.
- If Celcon M270 itself is not available. Some branded grades are sold only through the producer’s own channels or go on allocation. If we cannot source it, we tell you, then quote a matched alternative with a side-by-side comparison.
Send the grade code, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks it before we quote; we have been in the resin business for 30+ years. For several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.
