Hytrel 4056 specs from the data sheet
Typical values from the producer’s published data sheet (Hytrel 4056 (Celanese EN-US and SI data sheets, revised 2026-08-12)). Typical values are not specifications; the lot COA shows what you actually receive. Values only compare at the same test method and condition.

Grades to ask about instead of Hytrel 4056
These grades from other producers have similar published specs. None is a drop-in replacement: additive packages, flow at molding shear rates, color and approvals differ. If your part, drawing or customer approval names Hytrel 4056, any change needs your approval and usually a trial.
| Grade | Producer | Melt flow | Density | Key property | How it compares |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arnitel EM460 | Envalior | MVR 46 cm³/10 min at 230 °C, 2.16 kg (ISO 1133); MFR not published | 1.15 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Shore D 40 (3 second reading, ISO 868); flexural modulus 98 MPa (about 14,200 psi, ISO 178); melting point 189 °C (about 372 °F) | Same nominal 40D hardness class and similar density, but stiffer (98 vs 60 MPa flexural modulus) with a higher melting point (189 vs 152 °C), so extrusion temperatures will differ. Flow is given as MVR at 230 °C, not MFR at 190 °C, so the flow numbers cannot be compared, and the hardness is a 3 second reading against Celanese's 15 second reading. This is not a drop-in replacement. |
| Arnitel EM400 | Envalior | MVR 33 cm³/10 min at 230 °C, 2.16 kg (ISO 1133); MFR not published | 1.11 g/cm³ (ISO 1183) | Shore D 33 (3 second reading, ISO 868); flexural modulus 50 MPa (about 7,250 psi, ISO 178); melting point 195 °C (383 °F) | Closer to Hytrel 4056 in stiffness (50 vs 60 MPa flexural modulus) but softer on the Shore D reading, lighter, and with a much higher melting point (195 vs 152 °C). The same flow and hardness test caveats apply as for EM460. This is not a drop-in replacement. |

Typical uses for Hytrel 4056
Celanese lists typical applications for Hytrel 4056 as hose and tubing, hose jackets, wire and cable jackets, film and sheeting, belting and seals, and PVC and rubber compound modification, and recommends the grade for extrusion and compounding.
What to check before you switch
- Compare flow at the same test temperature and load; copolyester elastomers are often reported as MVR at different temperatures.
- Check melting point and set extruder or mold temperatures from the substitute's own processing guide.
- Dry the substitute as its producer directs; copolyester elastomers pick up moisture and can degrade if run wet.
- Test flex fatigue, low temperature impact and fluid resistance in conditions that match the real part.
- Check whether a customer or OEM specification names Hytrel 4056; a substitute usually needs formal approval.
Buying Hytrel 4056 or an equivalent
Send us the grade name, your annual volume and ship-to location. A polymer chemist checks the data sheet and we quote Hytrel 4056 where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, saying clearly which one you would get. Orders start at one gaylord. For background on this resin family see TPE and TPV grades and buying guide; for several grades at once, use the resin RFQ template.
Trade names belong to their owners. ResinBridge is not affiliated with these producers; grade names are used only to identify the material. Data reflects published sheets as of October 2026.

Common questions
What is Hytrel 4056?
Hytrel 4056 is a Celanese thermoplastic copolyester elastomer (TPC-ET). Celanese describes it as a low modulus grade with a nominal hardness of 40D, high impact resistance down to -40 °C and a non-discoloring stabilizer, recommended for extrusion and compounding.
What is the melt flow and hardness of Hytrel 4056?
The data sheet lists a melt flow rate of 5.6 g/10 min at 190 °C (374 °F) with a 2.16 kg load (ISO 1133), and Shore D 37 on a 15 second reading with a maximum reading of 43 (ISO 868). Celanese calls the nominal hardness 40D.
What is equivalent to Hytrel 4056?
There is no exact equivalent. Envalior Arnitel EM460 and Arnitel EM400 are TPC-ET grades in a similar hardness range, but they have higher melting points and different stiffness, and their flow is reported as MVR at 230 °C, so it cannot be compared directly. Any switch needs testing and, where required, customer approval.
Is Hytrel 4056 UL listed or food contact compliant?
The sheet shows UL 94 HB recognition at 1.5 mm and 0.8 mm and UL 746B relative thermal indices of 50 °C (122 °F) for electrical, impact and strength at 1.5 mm. The Hytrel 4056 sheet does not state food contact compliance for this grade; its general text only says that special food contact grades exist within the Hytrel family.
Can ResinBridge quote Hytrel 4056?
Yes. Send the grade name and volume. A polymer chemist checks it and we quote the grade where we can source it, or a qualified equivalent, and say which. Orders start at one gaylord; U.S. and Canada only.
Need Hytrel 4056 or an equivalent?
A polymer chemist reviews every request, then matches your grade or finds a qualified equivalent and prices it.
